Dru Meditation

Ever thought about trying meditation but just can't imagine yourself sitting on the floor for an hour in silent stillness? Would you like to begin your week with a bit more 'mmm...' rather than 'arghhh...' ?

Well, Dru meditation maybe just what you're looking for...

Our next beginners course starts on Monday 28th February and will run for 6 weeks.

What’s Dru Meditation?  ‘Dru’ means still point. That place inside of us that never waivers despite what chaos and drama is unfolding around us.  These sessions are aimed at connecting us with that Dru point inside. All sessions include mindful movement, relaxation, breath focus and simple meditation techniques to help you declutter your mind, relax your body, help you to stay calm in uncertain times, and re-energise you.

When is the course? The course runs from Monday 28th February 2022 – Monday 4th April inclusive
@ 11.00am – 12.00pm

Where is it? 6th Lichfield Scout HQ, Christchurch Lane, Lichfield, WS13 8AY (just behind Martin Heath Hall). This is a lovely venue with a cosy heated floor (perfect for those cooler mornings).

What should I wear?  Where comfortable warm layers and bring some socks.  Although the floor is heated, it’s always nice to have cosy feet.

What do I need to bring? Bring a yoga mat, a cushion and a blanket, and maybe you’ll want to bring some water too. There are chairs at the venue we can use.

Will I be expected to sit on the floor for an hour? No, not at all.  Dru Meditation is about finding our still point inside, but to do that, first we need to move the body to help ease it, release tension and free up any tightness from the muscles so that sitting is more comfortable.  All sessions will begin with some easy flowing mindful movements before we sit in a chair or lie on the floor for a deep guided relaxation (it’s like sleep only better).  Our meditation practice which will follow will be sat in a chair or on a cushion on the floor – your choice. There’ll be opportunities for you to try different positions so you can see what really works for you.

I’ve never done anything like this before. Will I be ok? Starting anything new can sometimes be daunting, but this short course is aimed at beginners and seasoned meditators alike and is about you being comfortable. It is my aim as a meditation teacher to share with you various simple techniques that you can take into your day-to-day life to help reduce stress, and increase your sense of general wellbeing.
